This vase was turned to completion from green madrone.  After turning the exterior, a parting tool was used to turn deep closely-spaced grooves around the circumference of the piece.  The vase was then hollowed, the bottom finished off, and allowed to dry.  The shrinkage that occurred during drying caused the vanes to buckle to produce the rippled effect.  The height is 8.25".
